A Physical Exam, also known as a regular checkup or wellness check, is an essential way to monitor your overall health and ensure the absence of any medical problems. Typically performed by a Primary Care Provider (PCP), an annual physical examination can help detect serious issues early and provide an opportunity to discuss any physical difficulties or symptoms with your doctor. It is recommended to schedule a physical exam at least once a year to maintain optimal health.
Additionally, physical exams are often required by employers, schools, and sports teams. To learn more about our physical exam services, you can either call our office at (703) 281-3000 or walk in for an appointment.
- Medical Certification Exams
If you reside in Virginia or the surrounding areas, scheduling a physical exam can be a hassle, as it often involves rearranging your busy schedule. However, McLean Medical Center is a medical care provider that offers walk-in appointments and flexible hours, making it convenient for individuals with busy schedules to receive the care they need.
McLean Medical Center is authorized to conduct immigration examinations for individuals who are seeking permanent residency (Green Card). Compliance with the USCIS regulations is our priority. This medical examination comprises an interview, a physical examination, a tuberculosis blood test, a blood test for syphilis, and a urine test for gonorrhea. During the assessment, your vaccination records will be reviewed, and any necessary vaccinations can be administered during the same visit.
The Green Card medical examination is a crucial step in the immigration process, and it is required for all family members who are seeking a family-based Green Card. The examination must be conducted by a doctor authorized by the government and includes several components. These components consist of a review of your medical history and immunization records, a physical and mental evaluation, drug and alcohol screening, and testing for various diseases and illnesses. The aim of this medical examination is to ensure that the individual seeking a Green Card does not have any health conditions that would make him or her "inadmissible" to the United States, making them ineligible to receive a Green Card.
Many Green Card applicants may feel anxious about this process, which is perfectly normal. However, there is no need to worry as sufficient preparation can make the entire examination less stressful and also help avoid any issues that may cause delays or denial of your Green Card application.
In order to avoid making multiple visits and incurring unnecessary costs for vaccinations, please bring any vaccination records you have, including records from your childhood.
It is not necessary to fast before the examination. However, if you have a tendency to faint when your blood is drawn, it is recommended that you drink plenty of fluids before coming in.
For individuals between the ages of 18 and 64, the USCIS mandates proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination, as well as childhood vaccinations for tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis (Tdap) and measles/mumps/rubella (MMR). A Tdap vaccine dose administered within the last ten years is also required. Additionally, a flu shot is mandatory during the flu season, and if there is no evidence of having had chickenpox, the chickenpox vaccine is also necessary.
If there is no official documentation available, a Tdap vaccine dose must be administered. As many people may not recall having had chickenpox, we offer an affordable blood test to check for immunity against chickenpox, which can eliminate the need for the expensive chickenpox vaccine. Similarly, a test for immunity against measles/mumps/rubella can be conducted instead of getting vaccinated.
